1 Peter 1:9 "Bright Hope for Tomorrow" (Perseverance Week 4)

obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (ESV)

for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (NIV)

Your faith in Christ is many things.

Your faith provides hope in the midst of suffering.

Your faith nurtures inexpressible joy in the midst of darkness.

Your faith energizes you during exhaustion.

Your faith serves as a new lens over your entire worldview.

Our faith provides joy, hope, peace, and more for today, but its eternal promise surpasses even that. It’s the path to the greatest gift—the salvation of our souls.

God, in his infinite wisdom, chose faith to be the means by which he administers His saving grace. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 ESV).

As the famous hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulnessreminds us, faith brings “Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.”

Be strengthened by your faith today. Let it guide you toward positivity, adaptability, humility, and generosity. But Christian, do not forget your inheritance. Peter reminds us that this world is not our home. Faith does not remove pain. Faith does not remove suffering. Faith does not remove weakness. Not yet.

One day, Christ will deliver us from every trace of sin—both around us and within us.

This is our bright hope for tomorrow.

There is an end result–an outcome–of our faith; it is now and will forever be the rationale, purpose, and true hope we’ve been given: the salvation of our souls.

We are saved by faith (Eph. 2:8–9).

We are kept by faith (1 Pet. 1:5).

We live by faith (Gal. 2:20).
We receive eternal life by faith (John 3:16; 1 Pet. 1:9).

Faith holds us today, and one day, through Christ, it will bring us home.
