Jeremiah 17:7 "Trust is" - (July Week 3)

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. (NIV)

Dive Deeper

The only path that will lead you out of the salt land to the stream of security is surrender. And in surrendering, a transformation begins to take place. An inward transformation of your heart, as it moves from trusting in the Lord to your trust being the Lord.

A subtle shift, but it makes all the difference. It’s going from, “I trust in the Lord to do X” or “I trust in the Lord for X” to “The Lord is my trust—He is my security”. It’s not about what you’re trusting God to give you, it’s about trusting Him as the gift and the giver.

You stop looking to your surroundings as your source of wellbeing and start looking to Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Circumstances don’t determine your security—He does. And good news, friend, He doesn’t change!

This rewrites the script of Jeremiah 17:5, where trusting in flesh leads to curse, decay, and wandering. Trusting in the Lord leads to blessing, life, and rest.

Flesh fades, but our Good Father is everlasting. And when you lay your life at His feet in humility, the grip of death is loosed and freedom takes its place.

All this is only possible because of Jesus. Because He showed us the way.

He is the only one who perfectly trusted the Father. Through temptation, suffering, and even death. Jesus’ trust becomes ours. His death and resurrection become ours. His life becomes ours.

And where His life flows, the blessing of fruit and security are sure to follow. So long as you have the roots of trust as your foundation.
